The Kenbe Fèm Project [in Kreyòl]

On and around January 12, 2011, there were events throughout Haiti, the United States, and the world that remember the horrible tragedy of the earthquake that hit Haiti almost one year ago. Trauma of the magnitude experienced by so many in Haiti, their families around the world, and all those who stepped up to help relieve the suffering is an undeniably potent life-altering experience.

To embrace and make stronger the lives of the millions impacted by the tragedy in Haiti, it is of utmost importance that we all continue to mourn the losses of January 12, 2010, to identify the ongoing suffering of survivors and their family members, and to advocate for continued support for Haiti’s recovery.

For too many people, understanding of catastrophe, trauma, and their own abilities to help is a short-term experience. The Kenbe Fèm Project seeks to breed long-term understanding through both exposure to the profound collective experience of trauma and participation in the story of possibility that is now Haiti’s future.

Still Harbor encourages you to send us your reflection (666 Dorchester Ave., South Boston, MA 02127) or consider including your own adaptation of The Kenbe Fèm Project at an event in your community.
