Still Harbor
Board of Directors
APPLICAtion
(2022-2024)

ABOUT STILL HARBOR:

Still Harbor creates training spaces and community-building opportunities for spiritual caregivers working toward collective liberation. We believe that leadership is expressed within and through each of us—it is not a title or a role. Our primary work involves training spiritual directors and supporting them in their spiritual care practices. Through that work, we embrace the power of spiritual witness. In a world that can feel increasingly isolating, making space for intentional, embodied, spiritual connection is truly transformative.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are growing our board of directors and are looking to welcome up to six new board members before the end of the calendar year for two-year terms. We meet monthly for either 60-minute or 90-minute meetings via Zoom and request that Board members commit to a minimum of 5 additional hours each month. Work to support the co-directors of Still Harbor occurs throughout the term of service based on specific board member roles and programmatic needs throughout the calendar year. The roles likely require an average of 10 working hours a month in addition to meetings.  Examples of working board roles we are looking to fill but are not limited to include:

  • Co-Chair

  • Fundraising Lead

  • Communications Lead

  • Clerk

  • Treasurer

  • Program Liaison

Within and between these roles, the Still Harbor Board of Directors is currently prioritizing the following projects and efforts:

  • Facilitating a Process to Refine & Align the Organizational Dream, Values, & Service (aka: Vision, Values, Mission) Statement

  • Organizational Budgeting & Accounting Management

  • Fundraising Strategy, Outreach, Appeal Design & Management, Grant Writing, & Identifying Growth Opportunities

  • Communications Strategy, Campaign Management, Content Production

  • Program Support: Spiritual Direction Practicum Administrative and Operations Support, Recruitment; Webinars & Workshops Administrative and Operations Support, Recruitment

  • Board Growth Strategy, Recruitment, & Onboarding

Still Harbor has been leading with a collective leadership model since 2018. The intentions for leading together have taught us more fully what it actually means to embrace collaborative work rooted in the dreams and work of our organization.

As a small, resource-constrained organization leading on the fringe of movements, spiritual communities, and community organizations, we see how we can feel simultaneously free from and beholden to the ways non-profits are taught to operate for success. We want to interrogate the principles and practices that guide us, and we want to be able to lead our work. As such, we are currently in a year of transition, values clarification, burnout prevention, and questioning. We have chosen to focus our programs more narrowly, to build a working Board with committed volunteer roles, and to discern what will guide the future of the organization. It is both a creative and uncertain time within the organization’s life, and we are seeking collaborators who want to join us in our focused dreaming and discernment.
